About Godwin

Godwin serves in the Armed Forces of the Philippines with the Philippine Air Force, and he is the only active jiu-jitsu black belt across the country's uniformed personnel. He went from an 8-to-5 job to soldier-athlete, Philippine Sambo national team member and coach, and he credits jiu-jitsu for all of it.

In September 2026, at the SJJIF World Championship in Shibuya, Tokyo, he won the Masters 36 featherweight No-Gi black belt title with every win by submission and no points scored against him, the first Cordilleran ever to win a black belt world title. The next day, after a camp that was 90% Sambo and 10% gi, he still made the Gi podium. Today he coaches combat sambo and MMA in Makati and runs seminars for young Filipino athletes. His motto: 諦めない, “never give up.”

“Jiu-jitsu literally changed my life. From my career and work to my family.”

Muay Thai × Kun Khmer International Showcase

January 2027 · APEC Park, Da Nang, Vietnam

In 2026 Vietnam finished first overall at both the World Kun Khmer Championships in Cambodia and the IFMA World Muay Thai Championships. Home to world champions in both arts, Vietnam is the natural neutral ground to bring them together: two great traditions on one card, each under its own name, under one neutral ruleset. Three nations. One ring.
